Journey of this indomitable mom - path to homeschooling

As a  working mom of 2 toddlers the journey post Covid  has been even more challenging as it left me working from home, with 2 young kids ,who needed all my time and attention.

Looking back, I can say that daycares have been a blessing to most of us working parents , as it helped us focus on stresses of work and above all gave us the precious "Me time" which we crave for , so often. I can safely say this is even more true for working moms, and more so for moms of younger kids who need all the energy in the world to keep going.

As Covid derailed life in general, moms all over dealt with this great crisis using great innovations (I believe God gave us extra reserves of everything , which manifest during crisis).  I am no different.

I was left with a toddler who was about to enter PreK and a younger one who was starting to speak and was learning new things. One thing I learnt the hard way was , thinking schools dealt with all the learning a child needed is an illusion which needs to be dispelled asap. The bright , intelligent and smart toddler who I thought mastered everything couldn't recall all the alphabets and could count only upto 10. Well this is not that bad ideally, but it left me feeling that my child definitely had more potential than that and was capable of greater toddler achievements.

So I took it upon myself to sit with her for 30-45 mins everyday and teach a few things. 4 months down the line I can proudly say (though all credit goes to the Lord above for her attention span, my patience and the time in hand)  that she started to read sight words, can count to 100, add and subtract and can draw with a steady hand just like a pro . For a 3.5 yr old these are true achievements.

So is this something I did. No. All I did was spend sometime with her everyday, something I couldn't in the pre Covid era and use some good and affordable resources to facilitate her learning.

My blog is going to focus on reviewing the resources/teaching methods I used to teach my child and which I feel could help many parents like me who have limited time and resources but a desire to see their child succeed.
